31 weeks

January 24, 2015

Photo thoughts:
I'm not seeing the growth but knowing that my doctor is able to measure it makes me feel better. My weight didn't budge in the past two weeks. Who knows what baby has been busy in there doing?

Pregnancy symptoms:
Sleep... and I mean lack of it. I'm having a few contractions (not too frequent) and it's a reminder that my body is preparing for labor. I still feel like I have good energy most days in spite of my terrible sleep schedule. Hopefully, I'll continue to take advantage of the energy to get my loose ends tied up.

Boy or girl:
Most people still think it's a girl. I'm still really obsessed with thinking about girl names but I'm starting to think it's because I kind of have the boy name set (in my mind anyway). Once again, we aren't sharing the name until baby arrives.

Food cravings:
I am eating really normal things. I have been waking up with an incredible appetite in the early morning hours (like around 4:00 or 5:00am). I usually just grab a peanut butter fold over sandwich or a bowl of cereal and go back to bed for another hour and a half. I remember doing the exact same thing with Owen. I guess I'm doing a fantastic job of taking in my extra 300 calories they say is needed for the third trimester.

Best moment of the week:
Patrick got two off days this week since he just came back from a trip. It was an unexpected surprise to find out Monday night that he didn't have to work the next day. Also, I had another OB visit this past week. Everything is continuing to look great! Baby continues to measure on track. I'm contracting occasionally but not nearly like I did with Owen in terms of frequency.

Looking forward to:
Meeting this baby. There is something about getting into the 30's that makes this so much more real to me. I'm getting more excited to find out who this little person is that I'm carrying around.

30 weeks

January 17, 2015

Photo thoughts:
Baby is growing. I think I can see a difference between this week and last. Maybe?

Pregnancy symptoms:
I've started waking up in the middle of the night again. Sometimes I just can't seem to fall back asleep no matter what I do. Also, I've noticed more contractions this past week. They aren't nearly as frequent as when I was pregnant with Owen but they are more crampy when they occur. I'm in the third trimester though so I guess it's time for some of this to start.

Boy or girl:
I started feeling girl vibes again this week and really started to think way more about girl names. We have nothing decided in the name department. We didn't decide on Owen until I was about 32 or 33 weeks though maybe in a couple weeks we'll have something.

Food cravings:
I still have noticed that I have a bit more of a sweet tooth, but I think I'm doing okay with it. I'm also doing way better with meat. Probably the best I've done this entire pregnancy.

Best moment of the week:
Patrick and I celebrated 7 years of marriage on Monday and had dinner at Bellinis. It was delicious. We enjoyed great food, conversation, and a night off from our little man. On top of that, we had a second date night this week because Patrick and I decided to take a hospital tour since I'll be at a different hospital for this baby. We followed it up with dinner so we got two date nights this week! Thanks Jane and Bruce!

Looking forward to:
Patrick returning from his ski trip! I don't like it when he's gone...

29 weeks

January 10, 2015

Photo thoughts:
This was taken before I left for church Sunday. I'm 29 weeks and 1 day and that isn't even a maternity dress. Made me feel good to be able to wear it!

Pregnancy symptoms:
I've been feeling really good this week. My energy is up, I'm sleeping well, and I went back to work Saturday for my first shift since Christmas. It felt good to go back. I'm a daytime girl. Don't know how I survived over a year of weekend night shifts. Also, we've been free of nasty colds in this house for a few weeks now! Hoping I didn't just jinx us...

Boy or Girl:
Patrick said this past week that he thinks he leans towards boy.

Food cravings:
No cravings. I'm happy to report that I've been eating really normal this past week. It helps to have night shifts and the holidays behind me. I feel like we're getting back to our normal routine.

Best moment of the week:
My Doctor appointment went really well. Baby is growing right on track. The heartbeat was perfect. My blood pressure was great (100/70). I was happy to report that I'm not contracting. My doctor actually called me skinny. Hey, I'll take it! I'm actually just 5lbs shy of what I weighed when I delivered Owen so I'm sure I'll surpass that number this time.

Most looking forward to:
Anniversary (7 years!), hospital tour, and my sister coming to visit this weekend while Patrick is out of town.

Energy Bites {3 ingredients}

I've seen these "clean" bites in their various forms around the internet and decided to give them a try this past week.

I used a recipe that I found here. However, I halved the recipe because I didn't want to make a ton if they tasted horrible.

I'm happy to report that they were edible and filling. Bonus: They are completely clean.

How did I make mine?

- 1 cup of uncooked regular oats (old fashioned)
- 1 mashed up banana
- 1/4 cup of pureed pumpkin (I used canned)

After that you can cook them or add your own flare.

My flare:
- 1 teaspoon ground flaxseed
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- dried cranberries and sliced almonds (I eyeballed it)

Into the oven on 375 degrees for 25 minutes.

My recommendations/plan:
I do think I'll try this again. I'd like to try it with unsweetened applesauce like the other recipe suggests. I'll also flatten out the balls a little bit before cooking next time. They don't spread on the cookie sheet. If mine had been flatter then the centers wouldn't have been so chewy. However, you may like that sort of thing. Also, spray the pan so they don't stick. Finally, don't be afraid of seasoning. I probably went a little light on mine.

Nursery update {Baby #2}

Our old office and guest room has received a lot of attention in the last few weeks. I slowly started cleaning out the room after the basement bedroom received paint and carpet in November. Then Patrick removed the carpet from the room in the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The new floors went in the Monday before Christmas. I spent the weekend prior trying to get the room painted so that I didn't have to worry about getting paint on the new hardwoods. Plus, having the carpet removed meant that I didn't have to worry about drop cloths.

We were able to pick up the extra crib from my parents house when we went to visit them the weekend following Christmas. We also snagged a really pretty piece of furniture that I'm now using in the dining room to replace the white chest. My mom had mentioned that she didn't want/need it a while back and I was happy to take if off her hands for her. Thanks mom! The white chest will become the new dresser/changing table for this little one.

I didn't waste much time getting going on the crib swap once we got home. I guess I was ready to get a few things done since I still had some time off from work. Plus, the room felt like a blank canvas with the fresh paint and floors.

So here we are today.

same angle as the pictures above

The view as you walk in the door
I think I'm happy with the layout. I've also done some rearranging in Owen's room but I'll post that later. He's taking the changes really well. He didn't mind his crib changing colors in the slightest. However, the first night that we had moved the rocking chair did seem to confuse him a little. We had made the habit of sitting in the chair after brushing his teeth so that we could say prayers before bed. He walked into his room, began turning in circles, and with his little palms facing up he said, "rock chair? rock chair?" I just about cried. Patrick just scooped him up and said, "It's okay, I'll hold you while we pray."

I am thankful that we are slowly making transitions in the house now. I know that Owen is going to have enough to adjust to once his sibling arrives. Also, he hasn't asked for the chair since that night.

There are still a few things on my list to finish up, but I think I'm on track! I'm hoping that I'm able to post a picture of the completed nursery before this baby makes it's arrival. I'm also thinking I'll write a post later on what else I'm doing to prepare (i.e. purchasing, cleaning, etc).

28 weeks

January 3, 2015 (Week of New Years)

28 weeks and 4 days
Photo thoughts:
I never seem to look as big as I feel when I look at pictures of myself. I guess that's a good thing, right? I do believe I'm bigger this time. The growth spurt that baby had a week and half ago seemed to push baby up a lot higher. I can feel kicks and sometimes little tiny feet way up by my ribs.

Pregnancy symptoms:
Heartburn has returned after a two week break. It's not bad. I'm managing okay with zantac. My hunger seems to be leveling off again too. I'm not waking up in the middle of the night starving. In fact, I've occasionally been sleeping through the night which is nice. I'm heading into the third trimester so I know that it won't last. I'll soon be waking up one-two times a night to answer natures call.

Boy or girl:
Boy...

Food cravings:
I'm craving a detox after the past few weeks! Ha. I want so desperately at times to wake up and go for a long run or hit it hard with a P90X workout. Then I stand up out of bed a remember this baby belly. I can't wait to have my body back and eat my normal healthy foods. I know better than to restrict myself right now especially when my appetite/cravings are so hard to determine.

Best moment of the week:
I got a lot done this week on the nursery! I've really started to surprise myself since I was nowhere near this ready with Owen at this point.

For comparison, I think it was this week during my pregnancy with Owen that my mom showed up and toted me around town to order a crib, a glider, and pick out bedding. I was just not getting it back then. This time, I know that this kiddo is coming and I'm also very aware that the newborn days with this baby will look a lot different with a two year old running around. I'm not going to have the same amount of time on my hands to finish up loose ends like I did with Owen. Also, it's easier this time because I know what I want/need. I was clueless with Owen and decided I'd just figure it out once he arrived.

Looking forward to:
Working day shift again. My new "schedule" starts this month. I place that in quotes since I'm actually flexi so I don't really have a schedule. My plan is to work Saturdays (they are pre-scheduling me for those shifts) and then sign up for other shifts when I can. I have to get 12 shifts in before this baby arrives and I don't think that should be a problem. I'm actually hoping I get more than that!

27 weeks

December 27, 2014 (Week of Christmas)

Photo thoughts:
Going for a different angle this time. Ha. This was taken sometime between 27 and 28 weeks (So not actually the week of Christmas). I'm running out of lap space.

Pregnancy symptoms:
I feel like this little one had a big growth spurt about a week ago and now I'm holding steady. There is still a ton of movement which I love. My energy is returning now that I've had time off to rest and recover from nights and from being sick.

Boy or girl:
I'm still thinking boy.

Food cravings:
I'm not really sure there have been any cravings lately. I've just been trying my best to eat reasonably healthy through the holidays. I'm trying to remember my prenatal vitamins, drink plenty of water, and hoping that I can squeeze in a little exercise here and there.

Best moment of the week:
Christmas morning of course! Owen was so funny. He absolutely loved his blue truck that Santa brought:)

I did have to work but only from 11am-8pm. It really didn't bother me since it was during the day time! Plus, it ended up being a great shift.

I should also note that I painted the nursery Saturday and Sunday because the hardwood floors got installed by a crew on Monday! We took the morning to hang out as a family outside of the house since it was a little loud. Owen loved our breakfast company.

Looking forward to:
Spending time with my family, celebrating the new year, and getting back to a normal schedule soon.

26 weeks

December 20, 2014

Owen had his 2 year old check up this week. He was pretty funny during the whole thing. He kept asking to go. Then he'd ask for his pants. He knew what was coming. The picture below is Patrick trying to explain that we couldn't go until we saw the doctor. So fun trying to reason with a two year old.

Photo thoughts:
First of all, don't expect any pictures of me from the week. I'm failing at me mission to document over here! Secondly, when did my baby get this big? He seems to be meeting all is milestones. We had minor discussions about discipline, potty training, and diet with his doc. He doesn't have to go back to the doctor until he's 3! However, we will be starting up all over again sometime in March or April I suppose.

I'm also going to add a picture of this really sweet post viral rash Owen had on the day of his visit. You can't see it in the other two pics. I kind of felt bad taking him in for a well visit looking so rough. It was just proof that my little man hasn't been feeling too great lately.

Pregnancy symptoms:
I've been feeling so much better every day. My energy is returning, my cough is going away, and I've been able to cook and clean. I've even been sleeping like a rock. It's great. I guess I should also mention that I'm not contracting. I've had several people ask me that lately since it was about this time last pregnancy that contractions entered into the picture. I've felt a few, but nothing like my last pregnancy at this point. I'm thinking it'll stay that way. I think my contractions had a lot to do with being on my feet for long hours 3-4 times a week.

Boy or girl:
Owen told me he thought it was a baby girl.

Food cravings:
I feel like my appetite has calmed down a lot in the past week. I haven't been waking up in the middle of the night starving either. That's always a strange part of pregnancy for me. I think I'm slowly heading towards the part of pregnancy where food just won't fit in my stomach the way I'd like. Getting kind of close the the third trimester! Eek!

Best moment of the week:
I'm finally starting to feel better! We had the staff over to our house Tuesday for a Christmas breakfast that we do every year and then I actually made it out of the house to be social on Wednesday night.

Looking forward to:
Christmas! Can't wait to hang out with family, work a day shift, and then spend several days with my family at my parents house. I will finally meet sweet little Annie!

25 weeks

December 13, 2014

It was another rough week around here. Owen and I just can't seem to shake these nasty colds. I am seriously boycotting church nursery for a while (maybe the remainder of my pregnancy). I have absolutely no bump picture to show you. I was not in a photogenic mood since I was fighting body aches, fever, and snot all week. I have pictures of my pitiful baby though.

Lining up his blankets after nap. He didn't want to get out of his crib.

Ha! You can see half of my face. I had to run errands and he was out within two minutes of getting in the car.
Photo thoughts:
My little man and I were quite the pair this week. I remember thinking that I might cry in the middle of the grocery store this week. My body hurt, I was having cold sweats, but we needed food so I sucked it up.

Pregnancy symptoms:
How about we just re-label this one "cold symptoms" since I've now had three during this pregnancy with each one taking at least two weeks to recover from. I've coughed so much in the last few months that Patrick says I need a lung transplant.

Boy or girl:
No clue. Haven't had any time to think about it. I'm surviving.

Best moment of the week:
I worked my last night shift! I was scheduled to work Friday and Saturday but only made it to my Saturday shift. I was too sick Friday. I had all over body aches and spent the majority of the day in bed. It was a great feeling to get off Sunday morning and know that I'd be off until Christmas and that I wouldn't be putting my body through any more torture. Night shift just isn't for me folks!

Also, side note... My sister graduated from Grad school! I didn't get to see my family while they were here, but I don't think they would've wanted my germs anyway. Also, now that I think about it, I don't think I even mentioned to any of them that I'm sick. It's been one of those weeks...

Looking forward to:
I can't wait to feel better, to enjoy some time off for the holidays, and to get some things in order for this little one on the way.

24 Weeks

December 6, 2014

I don't think I have a good picture of my belly this week. So you get to see a snotty Owen sitting by the Christmas tree! I have a pic that I'll post at the bottom, but I'm wearing dark clothing and you just can't see anything.

Photo thoughts:
I love this little boy.

Pregnancy symptoms:
Nothing major. Does placenta brain count? I really can't seem to walk into a store and come out with everything I planned to purchase even if I have a list in my hand. I forget key ingredients every week and have to send Patrick to the store to grab what I forgot.

Boy or girl:
Boy

Food cravings:
Anything sweet which maybe that means I should change the above statement to girl... Let me tell you, it was soooo hard to say no to the peanut butter rice crispy treat with the chocolate on top when I was at Newks eating with my Dgroup this week. All I kept thinking was, "No, you have your glucose test in the morning!" Ugh... my mouth waters just thinking about it.

Best moment of the week:
I passed my glucose test on Thursday morning:) No gestational diabetes for me! Also, seeing that baby is developing on track and that the cysts are gone was nice as well even though I was never worried about it in the slightest. Also, once again, I avoided the temptation to find out the gender.

Looking forward to:
I want to feel better! I started feeling bad again at the end of this week. I traveled to Dalton to see my brother sing in Candlelight at McCallie on Friday night and I knew by the time I left Saturday morning that the sickness was on its way yet again. My shift Saturday night went okay, but I know it's just the beginning. I'm really hoping that once I get off of night shift my immune system will improve.

23 weeks

November 29, 2014  (Thanksgiving Week)

22 weeks and some change.
Photo thoughts:
I had been feeling like I was way bigger at this point than I was with Owen until I snapped this picture. I have a very similar picture that I posted on instagram when I was about the same gestational age with Owen and the two shots are pretty similar. People have been commenting that I'm carrying this baby exactly the same. Also, we might need to get used to the mirror selfies and a two year old Owen on my hip. It's hard to remember to give the camera to Patrick for pics. We've been so busy!

Pregnancy symptoms:
I'm not gonna lie. It's been rough lately. I just feel worn down. I can't really tell if it is the pregnancy, the fact that I've been sick, or that Owen has been sick, or that I'm working night shifts. I guess I'll blame all of the above. Right now, I desperately want energy. I think the hardest part of pregnancy for me is slowing down. I hate feeling like I can't do things.

Boy or Girl:
I'm thinking boy lately. I know most people are thinking girl, but I'm just thinking it's a boy. Also, I've really started thinking about how awesome it would be to have another boy. We've got all the boy clothes that we need.

Food cravings:
I'm changing this to plain old cravings since there really aren't any aversions anymore. It's just eat whatever sounds good. Unfortunately, that's just about everything. I'm trying to be good though! My glucose test is next week. This week was rough because of it being a holiday week. Bonus: I got to wear stretchy pants with no button during Thanksgiving:) Also, I must post a pic of the awesome pumpkin pancakes that I made per Patricks request on Thanksgiving morning. Yummy!

Best moment of the week:
I actually had fun at work this weekend. It's been a while since that has happened! I love my job, but I've had some crazy shifts here lately with some tough situations. Luckily, it was slower than normal so I got to spend some time decorating the unit for Christmas.

Looking forward to:
Getting to decorate our home for Christmas! Also, I get to have another ultrasound next week to check on little bit. The plan is for me to drink my glucose drink, go for ultrasound, have my appointment, and then check my blood sugar. Hope I pass this time!

Happy New Year!

Well, hello there everyone. Also, happy new year! Yep, this old blog is still functional after all:)

I didn't plan such a long break from blogging. I started having computer issues the week of Thanksgiving. Rather than get worked up about it, I decided to take a little break, enjoy the holidays, and come back when I felt like I wouldn't be overwhelmed. I'm still slightly overwhelmed by the amount of catchup I need to do to fill in the last few weeks. I guess it just means all of you will get plenty of content for the next few weeks. Once again, I've got pregnancy stuff to catch up on. Also, look for a nursery update, foyer update, and a little DIY product review.

Want an idea? It relates to the following.

Ugh, so much to write! I shouldn't have been storing so much junk on my computer. Patrick has ordered an external hard drive that should help with the memory issues that were causing my whole computer to either lock up or shut down.
